I am proud to carry fair trade merchandise that takes a huge amount of effort to change the mindset of generations by offering jobs to marginalized women in India at a fair wage with special scholarship funds for girls.

The echo effect of training, educating, and offering fair wages greatly benefit their families and communities. Take Rosy's story as a model, posted on Mata Traders campaign to raise awareness during the Fashion Revolution Day:
“100% cotton. Made in India by Rosy. ‘I started working for my family, but now I work for me, for my heart.’ Like many families, hers had money problems. She and her husband dreamed of giving their children an education. When she joined the co-op, she had never sewn before, but when the co-op saw what a hard worker she was, she was promoted to a supervisor role, and kept moving up. Now she’s an assistant production manager. Rosy has earned not only a living wage but also the respect of her family and community. Rosy’s oldest son attended school and is now happily married while her youngest son is finishing his education.”

WorldFinds offers a Girl Education Funds to help provide scholarships to the most marginalized families in their artisans' communities. They are very conscious of the issues surrounding women and children and are committed to providing regular employment to low-income women. The funds generated by the Fair Trade Federation members such as WorldFinds, Mata Traders, and Aid Through Trade are used to invest in their local communities. Slowly but steady positive changes happen:
• literacy programs,
• roads are paved,
• health clinics are opened,
• sanitation issues are addressed,
• scholarship funds are offered.
They also provide equality in the workplace in a country as socially stratified as India.  Whether a beginner sewer or the marketing director, all the women that make the clothing and accessories have a voice.

I am so proud to be a part of that voice by bringing you their quality handiwork online and how the cost of fast fashion is not just measured in money, but more drastically measured in human lives.
