Calling all fashionistas; we have a trend report for all of you: We have seen that pom-poms are back. Yes, you read that right, POM POMS. This spring/summer 2016 we have gotten to know that our all time favorite trend is back in fashion: the Pom Pom trend. To those of you who are unaware of what this trend is, take note: Pom-poms are bright, furry, and fluffy balls (mostly varying in size, color, and material) used in all kinds of fashion pieces.

From the 18th-century soldiers cap's proud uniforms to be risen back in the 1930s through the Great Depression as an affordable DIY craft embellishment. Finally made it to the luxury brands in 2011 when Cara Delevingne was spotted wearing her Carl Lagerfeld Fendi “bag bug”. As the street starting adopting this style, retailers everywhere filled their walls. Gucci sealed the high-fashion status on its autumn/winter 2015 catwalk, the lace-up shoes finished with pom-poms became fashion’s most wanted. With a more up-to-date trend, in spring/summer 2016 Ready-To-Wear the Italian Dolce & Gabbana filled their catwalk with Peruvian pom-poms, chinoiserie dresses, riviera style.

Top fashion directors agree that they are great styling piece that adheres to most wardrobes. Nicola Rose, creative director of fashion at Red magazine, says they are fun: “They provide the opportunity to add a splash of color to your wardrobe. They semaphore fun, and fashion should be about that really.” Jacqui Markham, global design director at Topshop, says they look great with “everything from feminine looks through to more masculine and grungy outfits.” While Justin O’Shea, buying director at Mytheresa.com says: “They are also a lot of fun; those hats are very kitsch. I think people love the idea that fashion is becoming fun again.”

And just because you don't have a fancy Mediterranean vacation booked quite yet, that doesn’t mean you can't still channel a Diva on a tropical island. You can fuse your bohemian soul and bring in these fun, tribal, and gypsy pom-poms for an entirely new look.
